6+1 Traits of Writing

The 6+1 traits of writing is a helpful tool to use during your writing. It helps you write a better peice. It also helps you if you struggle with figuring out how to write something. Use the 6+1 traits and you will suceed in your writing. All the traits fit together to make a picture...your story!

 

  

 

 Ideas

Great ideas make your writing pop!  Make a new original idea. Make your writing go wow! Try to give your reader something new. Be specific about all of your ideas. Before writing it down, develope your ideas so they're not half as good. As you are writing, consider your audience. Make your ideas come to life!

 

 

 Organization

 Have a beggining, a middle, and an end. Organize your ideas, when your writing. Instead of having ideas all over the place, order them logicaly. Use sequencing!

 

 

 

 

 

 Voice

When your writing it's your personality that shows. Let your personality come through your writing. It's important that you speak strongly to your reader!

 

Word Choice

Writing is all about language! Use words to create a picture, show don't tell. Magnify your message! Word choice is done best when you revise and edit. Stretch to use new vocabulary!

 

 

 Sentence Fluency

Have rhythm and fluency throughout your writing. Use different sentence lengths, not too short or too long! Make your story smooth not chopy, like a wave and not a line graph!

Conventions Check List

Check your grammer, spelling, puncuation, pharagraphs, and capitalazation! If you have good grammer, more people will want to read your paper or project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Presentation

Make your handwriting or font easy to read, and make sure it's not too big or too small. Make your heading or title the appropiate size and make sure its in quotes or it's underlined! Make your layout easy to read yet fun and creative. Make sure your graphics and pictures go along with your story!
